It’s January and I Want To Garden
It’s January and all I want to do is work in the garden. My schedule has been crushing and I haven’t been out there in a few months. MONTHS. Insanity has set in. Now my landscape is fairly stable, it is a native garden and you know how that goes. It really does not need me to thrive. The plants are fine and would survive just ducky without me but I love to putter. There isn’t actually much to do except tidy up and maybe expand a bit, after all I have a few feet of lawn left. That’s what lawn is for – expanding your garden.
Anyhow, my garden is young and last season was all about shrub planting with very few perennials. I did get a couple of black eyed susans to attract pollinators and of course collected the seeds. There wasn’t much seed collecting done this fall as I just didn’t have a lot to collect from but if you have one black eyed susan, you have a field’s worth. So maybe I can begin winter sowing soon to get my dirt fix in and plant the black eyed susan seeds. It’s still a bit early for winter sowing as the seeds haven’t been cold for long but maybe I can get away with it.

I feel your sentiments. I always wanted to tend my garden but my schedule is always a conflict. But I vow to make time for gardening this year, I hope you do too.
