Paperless Mailbox – Dish Network Bad Customer Service

Dish Network has the worst customer service. Yesterday I went through a round of phoning companies who send me junk postal mail in an attempt to opt out and one company I called was Dish Network. I am not happy. They are the only company I have called that has been rude which was completely unnecessary. I’m soft spoken to a fault, polite and not a person who believes an aggressive attitude will get me anywhere.

I’ve had companies tell me they can not remove me from their distribution – okay. However Dish Network didn’t just say no, they let me know that I could basically just suck eggs. Since they send junk mail to an address (Dear Resident), and not my name, it’s my house that gets their garbage. Dish Network (repeatedly) pointed out to me that I do not receive junk mail from them. Ever. I was told very specifically that the building does. Ta da! Beautiful. Literal, yes. Ridiculous, yes. I’ve had companies who could not take me off lists when there is no name attached to it but Dish Network takes this to a new level and the rational is just stunning.

The employee told me the me vs home rational several times as if perhaps I didn’t understand. I hate repetition. I’m not an idiot – I get it. Nor did I argue the point. Cripes, I only asked if I can be removed from a list. It’s a yes or no question.

So I politely asked if this meant that there was absolutely no way to take my address (not me personally mind you) off the junk mail list and she replied with a “no”. I thanked her and hung up.

May I ask what is the big whoop about removing an address from a junk mail list? It is a waste of money and resources. Dish Network customers, you get to pay for those pricey glossy junk mails they mass send out. Most companies have some sort of opt out policy in place because enough people have asked for it.

Heaven forbid any existing customer have a problem – I would not want to deal with their friendly (insert cough) customer service department. If you are thinking about signing up with them, don’t. Once they found out they weren’t getting money from me it was an instant attitude change, I can imagine that once they actually get your money they are done with you.

Talk about bad PR 101. As the most basic rule of marketing goes, I’ll be sure to tell 10 people they are awful and if I was ever to get any sort of satellite tv it would not be with Dish Network. Give them a call and ask them about any green or privacy policies they have. 1-888-959-3474

only you never talked to dish, just a telemarketer whose company mails out those pricey flyers and hires those rude people.

Wow. Can I ever relate! Like you I was very polite. ‘Rude’ is an understatement to my attempts to get removed from their mailing list. I’ve made the request several times during the year. I would love to see this corporation go down. We have never done any business with this outfit and yet the junk mail comes with our name on it (not just ‘resident’). The excuse they gave you is a farce. They do not respect a ‘named’ resident’s removal request either.

I know exactly what you’re talking about! I’ve spent no less than about 100 hours trying to get my name removed from their crappy list. And like everyone else, I just got the rude telemarketers that they outsource to. If there is ANYONE who knows who I can call or write to get this crap stopped, it’s greatly appreciated!

That’s just plain horrible. There was no reason for the customer rep to rub it in that you wouldn’t be removed. Do they think they’ll win a customer now with this kind of attitude? At least relish in the fact that they are just wasting money and resources sending junk to you.
