Garden Bee Sunflower Project
Participate in helping to track native bees in the United States. The Great Sunflower Project is an easy backyard citizen science program where you can help track bee populations by simply planting sunflowers and counting how long it takes for five bees to visit. Their site provides forums for help along with photo galleries if you need id assistance. It’s a great project to do with kids to help teach them bee identification as well as create an awareness of the creatures in their own backyards.
All that you need to do to participate is:
1. Sign up and plant your sunflower
2. Describe your garden
3. Time how long it takes 5 bees to visit your sunflower plant
4. Enter your data online or send us your form.
Visit The Great Sunflower Project for more information.
